All Things AI

From customer service chatbots to using facial recognition to unlock your phone, we've all seen how practical AI applications have worked their way into our daily lives. But above and beyond that, artificial intelligence.

Expect to see continued integration of AI in the personal wellness space through developments in wearable products and "smart" everything: think AI-powered resistance workouts, personal trainers, and plenty of options for a gamified experience and extra motivation.

Social Wellness Trends

If you heard about the U.S. Surgeon General's report on the epidemic of loneliness, you know that we're still collectively recovering from the severe isolation effects of the Covid era. Fortunately, businesses and communities are breaking the code and overcoming the challenge.

Social wellness is making a comeback in 2024, so be on the lookout for a rise in wellness-themed community events, connectivity initiatives for remote workers, and more creative gatherings initiated by traditional gyms and fitness facilities. It's all about fostering connections and relationships this year, and we're here for it.

Sleep Hygiene

"Expect to see some fresh focus on this often-overlooked cornerstone of healthy living. Quality sleep is critical for our overall physical and mental well-being, so we anticipate increased conversations involving sleep syncing, detailed morning and nighttime routines, and mindful dinner and caffeine consumption.

Battling Burnout

Another key to the more extensive and ever-evolving conversation on mental health could come in the form of addressing burnout. And while burnout can, in theory, affect any aspect of our lives—let's be honest—a lot of it comes back to our level of workplace satisfaction and motivation, or lack thereof.

"I think that people are going to be done feeling burnt out," says Alexandra F., a registered dietician and clinical researcher. "They're really going to prioritize life and doing things that fulfill them so they can thrive in their careers."

We think we'll see a continued surge in the pursuit of work/life balance, flexible work arrangements, and the right to unplug from business correspondence outside of office hours.

Back-to-Basics Nutrition

"I think people are going to be done taking 1,000 supplements they don't need," says Alexandra. "They're going to be very specific going off of bloodwork and going based on their diets and the nutrients and micronutrients that they're missing."

Look for simplified supplement regimens and sustainable, whole-food-based nutrition plans over fad diets and synthetic supplement overload.

Gut Health

Beyond a general nutrition focus, we can expect to see more buzz about the importance of probiotics. "Probiotics are going to get all of the hype that they deserve," Alexandra continues. "There's so much research talking about the benefits of probiotics when it comes to improved gut health, improved digestion, and the gut-brain axis…"

If you haven't heard of the brain-gut connection—and its importance—before, you probably will in 2024.

Eyes on Inflammation

And because every system of the human body ultimately ties together, we think we'll be having some big conversations about inflammation in 2024 and beyond.

“The #1 Health Trend of 2024 is reducing inflammation,” says neuroscientist Robert Love.

Love continues to say, "High levels of inflammation increase the risk of many chronic diseases: heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, some forms of cancer… so high inflammation is a really big problem."

So expect to see an emphasis on anti-inflammatory foods, supplements, and wellness routines.
